Lincolnshire has long been a place of ambition and achievement, and nowhere is this more evident than in the outstanding schools that educate and inspire the next generation. Recent school rankings showcase what we’ve always known: Lincolnshire is home to some of the best-performing schools in the East Midlands, and our Conservative led County Council is committed to building on these successes.
Schools That Shine
The 2025 school league tables highlight the incredible achievements of Lincolnshire schools. Caistor Grammar School is a selective, coeducational school named the State Secondary School of the Year in the East Midlands. It is a testament to its outstanding academic outcomes and enrichment activities. With a remarkable 73.3% of A-level grades at A*-B, it’s a school that not only sets high standards but also delivers on them.
Grantham’s The King’s School also shines as the State Secondary School of the Year for Academic Excellence, with 49.4% of A-level results achieving A* or A grades. This school, steeped in history and tradition, combines its illustrious past with forward-thinking leadership to equip students with the skills they need to excel in modern life.
These schools reflect the strength of Lincolnshire’s education system, but the story doesn’t stop there. Across the county, schools and academies are raising aspirations and delivering results, thanks in part to the support and investment from Lincolnshire County Council.
How Lincolnshire County Council Supports Education
Behind the success of our schools is a proactive and forward-thinking county council, working tirelessly to ensure every child in Lincolnshire has the opportunity to thrive. Recent years have seen targeted investment and innovative programmes to support schools, teachers, and students:
- Investment in School Places: Over £7 million has been allocated to expand mainstream schools, creating over 200 new places to meet local demand. This ensures that families across the county have access to high-quality education close to home.
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND): Through the Building Communities of Specialist Support Strategy, the council is delivering more than 500 new SEND school places by 2024, helping to ensure every child gets the tailored support they need to succeed.
- Outstanding Ofsted Ratings: Lincolnshire’s children’s services were rated ‘Outstanding’ in a recent inspection, demonstrating the council’s unwavering commitment to supporting the most vulnerable children and their families.
- Family Hubs Programme: The council’s new Family Hubs enhance early years services, providing essential support to parents and carers to help children get the best possible start.
A Broader Vision for Education
Education in Lincolnshire is more than academic outcomes; it’s about creating well-rounded, resilient young people ready to face tomorrow’s challenges. The county council also focuses on mental health and wellbeing initiatives. With expanded Mental Health Support Teams in schools and the launch of a refreshed Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA) pathway, Lincolnshire is leading the way in ensuring students can access the help they need when needed.
The council also works closely with schools to improve attendance, narrow attainment gaps, and promote innovation in teaching. From funding new children’s homes to supporting care leavers through education and employment, Lincolnshire is building a system that uplifts every child.
A Future Full of Opportunity
With schools like Caistor Grammar and The King’s School achieving national recognition and with the support of a dedicated county council, Lincolnshire’s future is bright. By investing in education, fostering partnerships, and celebrating the achievements of our young people, we’re ensuring that every child has the chance to reach their full potential.
Whether through academic achievement, innovative teaching, or inclusive support systems, Lincolnshire is proving that it’s not just a great place to live—it’s a great place to learn. Let’s celebrate the incredible work happening across our schools and continue to champion education’s role in shaping our county’s future.
